Dear Valued Customers,
There are some inherent characteristics in textile materials
that cannot be completely controlled or eliminated in the
finishing operation. We would like to bring some of these to
your attention in reference to the quality of the finished
products:
- Soft creases and wrinkles are inherent in some
fabrics, especially silks and taffetas. We cannot
guarantee that these creases or wrinkles will not be
apparent after the backing or laminating processes and
will need your authorization to proceed.
- Plaids, stripes, horizontal patterns, and silk
grains may not be 100% straight before the laminate
backing is applied and therefore we cannot guarantee
that they will be 100% straight after the backing is
applied. While we will do everything possible to
maintain and improve the straightness and grain of the
pattern, we cannot completely control and fix an
inherent incoming product flaw.
- It is extremely important that any “linear pattern”
arrives for finishing straight but also with tension
selvages. Many “linear patterns” have different selvage
tensions on either side, which makes it nearly
impossible for any finisher to control the linear nature
of the goods and deliver them within industry
tolerances.
- In addition to various acrylic type backings,
Fabric Finishing Partners offers two types of knit backings for
upholstery; one is a non-woven, and the other a tricot.
When placing an order for backing, it is crucial that
you specify the type of backing required for your
application.
- Various fabrics that have a moiré finish will
distort if the fabric receives a vinyl lamination
treatment. In order to vinyl laminate such fabric, we
must have your understanding in advance of the affect it
may have on the moiré finish.
- With the advancement of new FR requirements there
are various types of FR treatments that are applied to
textile fabrics. While significant development has been
done on these processes, fabrics treated for FR may
sometimes exhibit color change, mark-off, flattening or
dimensional change, increase in hand or firming,
reduction in tensile/tear strengths.
- The processing and handling of velvet/velour fabrics
through the finishing operations may alter the
appearance of the pile/suede look of the face of the
fabric. We have instituted many controls and techniques
to minimize the affect but you need to be aware that
there might be some appearance changes in the finished
product that are beyond our control.
